Foundation FAQ's

Who can apply for a scholarship?

Any student who attended Stavely Schools for a minimum of four years and is currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution (including universities, colleges, technical schools, or apprenticeship programs) is welcome to apply. Please visit each scholarship page for full eligibility details.

When is the deadline to apply?

All applications must be received by October 31st of the calendar year. This deadline is firm and cannot be extended, so please plan accordingly.

How can I donate to the Foundation?

You can donate online through CanadaHelps at canadahelps.org, where a tax receipt will be issued to you automatically. You are also welcome to donate by cheque, made payable to the Stavely Education Foundation and mailed to Box 156, Stavely, Alberta T0L 1Z0.

How much is the scholarship worth?

The SEF General Scholarship is valued at $1,000. The Florence A. Wilford Scholarship amount is determined annually by the board.

Can I receive a scholarship more than once?

For the SEF General Scholarship, eligible applicants may receive the award a maximum of two times in their lifetime. First-time applicants are always prioritized in the selection process.

Can I start an Endowment Fund?

Yes. If you are interested in establishing a fund to honour a person, a community event, or a specific educational purpose, please reach out to one of our board members to discuss the options.

Can I apply for both scholarships?

Yes, if you meet the eligibility criteria for both, you are welcome to submit an application for each.

What is the Foundation mission?

The Foundation was incorporated in Alberta on March 1, 1996, and has been proudly supporting Stavely students and the school community ever since.
